SOLOMON VALLEY DISASTER RELIEF FUND
Thank you for your interest in becoming a partner with the #MitchellCountyStrong program. In response to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic and the anticipation of future disasters, the Solomon Valley Community Foundation has created the Solomon Valley Disaster Relief Fund, which is now active to accept donations. Donations will be directed for relief and recovery efforts within our local communities of Mitchell County.
The Fund shall be used by the Foundation to support the Solomon Valley region and its citizens during a designated crisis or disaster, whether man-made or otherwise.
The fund is intended for immediate as well as longterm Mitchell County community needs following a designated community crisis or disaster. Solomon Valley Community Foundation will oversee the discretionary distribution of the fund based on specific issues presented by the crisis or disaster. Contributions to the fund may be spent immediately as needed or retained for future disaster relief. This determination will be made at the discretion of the SVCF Board.
SVCF recognizes the importance of having a vehicle for charitable giving established for donors to contribute to during such times of need. Contributions to this fund can be made by individuals, families, corporations, and other supporting entities wishing to support community response initiatives following a local situation of broad community impact.
SVCF will coordinate efforts with recognized 501(c)(3) organizations within Mitchell County to provide direct service, response, and support to the community as well as provide operational funding to non-profit organizations where needed.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS.
WHAT IS THE SOLOMON VALLEY DISASTER RELIEF FUND?
The Solomon Valley Disaster Relief Fund was established in response to the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic as a way to receive tax-deductible donations for assistance to Mitchell County and its citizens during a designated crisis or disaster.
WILL MY DONATION PROVIDE IMMEDIATE RELIEF TO THE COMMUNITY?
SVCF understands that when disaster strikes immediate needs will arise. However, the uncertainties often associated with unexpected disasters will also require a long-term recovery and building process. For that reason, 70% of the fund has been allocated for immediate distribution in relief efforts. The remaining 30% will be used to provide support in addressing the long-term critical needs of our local non-profits, charitable organizations, and the individuals they serve.
SVCF will oversee the discretionary distribution of the fund based on the specific issues presented by the crisis or disaster. Contributions to the fund may be spent immediately as needed or retained for future disaster relief. This determination will be made at the discretion of SVCF.
WHY SOLOMON VALLEY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION?
The Solomon Valley Community Foundation was founded in April of 2013, to serve as a vehicle for charitable giving benefiting communities in Mitchell County. The Foundation is a permanent source of charitable assets to meet both the emerging and existing needs of the local communities. The Foundation believes that as a community we are stronger together than we are as individuals and it seeks to continually connect people who care with causes that matter.
